Bernice Summerfield - The Inside Story

This 320-page coffee-table hardback (August 2009) covers the history of Bernice Summerfield, a character created by Paul Cornell for his 1992 Doctor Who novel Love and War, whose adventures are still continuing in print and on audio today. I interviewed more than 100 writers, editors, actors, directors, artists and crew.

Bernice Summerfield: "Parallel Lives"

Doctor Who: "How You Get There"

"How You Get There" featured in Doctor Who: Short Trips - A Day In The Life (June 2005). The seventh Doctor and his friend Bernice Summerfield appear in it, as does the #185 bus.

Bernice Summerfield: "A Life Worth Living"

I edited the anthology A Life Worth Living (September 2004). It's the first anthology I ever edited. Paul Cornell offered me the job in a pub in March 2004: he'd been meant to edit it, but was too busy writing an episode of the new Doctor Who TV series.

Bernice Summerfield: "Speaking Out"

"Speaking Out" is the second of my two stories in "Bernice Summerfield: Life During Wartime" (September 2003), edited by Paul Cornell. The first story was "The Birthday Party".
